Cooking Tips…
Turkey can be cooked covered or uncovered.
Baste the turkey several times if cooked uncovered and cover loosely with aluminum foil once the turkey has browned.
Preheat oven prior to cooking.
Tie legs together with household string, this can be done with the wings also if necessary.
Check and remove turkey giblet package in neck hole before roasting.
Rinse turkey well under cold water before preparing.
Never stuff the turkey the night before.
Roast the turkey immediately after thawing is complete, and absolutely as soon as the turkey is stuffed.
Use a meat thermometer for cooking accuracy whenever possible.
170-175F inner meat temperature away from bone. Thigh meat will should be slightly higher.
Remove cover or lid once the turkey is done and cook until golden brown about 10-15 more minutes.
It is great if the turkey can rest a few minutes before serving once removed from the hot oven.
